Vasant Jayasankar, MD, FACS, is dedicated to innovative and advanced techniques in both cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, including endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms.
Utilizing minimally invasive and catheter-based treatments allows patients to recover more quickly and with less pain than traditional approaches.
Dr. Jayasankar joined the practice in November 2010. A native of Boston, MA, he worked in the Midwest prior to moving to Jacksonville. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, and his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Harvard, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Jayasankar’s interests include minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgery, complex mitral valve repair, atrial fibrillation treatments, transcatheter aortic and mitral valve surgery, redo cardiac surgery, aortic aneurysm repair and lung cancer surgery.
